According to CNNMoney.com, brewers say rising commodity costs and lower volumes are forcing them to raise its price tags. Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world's largest brewer and maker of Budweiser, announced plans to raise prices. MillerCoors - the maker of popular beers Miller Lite, Coors Lite and Blue Moon -- is also raising prices. Retail prices for beer at supermarkets and other stores were up 3% in May from a year earlier, the biggest increase in 2 years, according to the latest data from the Labor Department. That's higher than the inflation rate for the overall economy. What is a beer drinker to do?
As an added benefit, once you have bought the basic equipment, you save a lot of money. You can brew up six gallons, yes, gallons, of your favorite ale for about $25 AND have a lot of fun doing it!
By the way, did I mention how much better a homebrew tastes when compared to the beers you can buy? Once you try the homebrew, you will never go back to the commercial varieties again. But hey, there is nothing wrong with being spoiled. It is easy and fun, and after all, you ARE saving money.
